Position Title:

Pig Adventure Guide:  Welcome Host, Farrowing Host, and Gestation Host

Position Summary:

The Pig Adventure Guide warmly welcomes guests and proactively offers them information on barn operations and pigs by following the script, offering interesting facts, and answering questions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively greet guest, groups of guests, and schools within earshot with a warm welcome.
  • Ensure group leaders have all information needed to have a fun, safe, and educational experience utilizing passports.
  • Check group’s activities utilizing the Passport and schedule departure bus time accordingly.
  • Invite them to visit remaining barns.
  • Command attention and take the lead with group leaders and teachers.
  • Ensure everything is clean.
  • Ensure that the HUDS and other barn exhibits are running properly.
  • Obtain and share accurate pig knowledge with guests and co-workers.
  • Solve problems as they occur.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, paying attention to each guest and remembering which attractions they experienced and which ones they have yet to experience.
  • Professionally, politely, and positively communicate to guests and co-workers.
  • Manage time effectively and adapts quickly to changing priorities.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions from company standard operating procedures and/or management.
  • Stay organized in manner, with materials, and company property.
  • Clean during slow times or as needed keeping work-space free of trash and clutter.
  • Stay in constant communication with other departments informing them of guest’s activities and their desires.
  • Multitask and anticipate the needs of guests.
  • Communicate departmental improvement ideas to management.
  • Comfortable working with all ages and demographics.
  • Effective listening and communication skills.
  • Have a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
  • Moderate technical expertise and knowledge of company products and equipment.

  • Able to think and work independently with some directions.
  • Capable of following written instructions and documented procedures.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Complete projects in a timely manner with no procrastination.
  • Flexible availability.
  • Log one full day of farm work, with the exception for a bio-security risk (i.e. owning your own pigs).
  • Follow SOP’s in department you are assigned to that day.
